I'm kind of excited about this game, but I still need to see some real gameplay.
I'm looking forward to inFamous a bit more.
Prototype
I saw the trailer of this game on G4's Xplay and I got totally excited. Its a sandbox game (i.e. GTA) but it has this fast paced anime style running and fighting as well some awesome gun-play. The main character can kill enemies and take on their form and blend in with the others or attack them. The creators of the game boast that the city in the game will be much larger that GTA 4's but will lack the weather system they have but they also said its still early and that could change.

oh wow. sounds awesome...
It seems cool, but I just haven't seen enough to make a concrete decision. I will tell you that the developer diaries are SUPER pretentious and everyone that is involved in the marketing of the game acts like their shit doesn't stink.

looks like it might be cool, i'd like to see more of the gameplay and less of the cinematic fluff
I'm definitely excited for this game. The whole supernatural angle and the things you are able to do because of it is what really sets it apart. If you haven't downloaded the two trailers on marketplace then I suggest you do so now.
Oh and also look out for a game called Mirror's Edge. It's pretty different than most games that are out there but there isn't a lot of info yet.

I'm more interested in Mirror's Edge than in this.
This seems like a fun rental, but I don't know if I'm seeing the depth that's inherent to a game like GTA which makes it so popular. Assassin's Creed is a good example of what you get when you build a sandbox but you don't bury any treasures in it... people dig around for a while, and then they get bored.
Seriously, I don't care how cool you make your fighting and action and stuff... eventually, it can get boring, no matter how awesome it is at first. It can get boring to tear helicopters down in mid-air (especially if it involves a canned sequence, then it gets boring quickly), it can get boring to have spikes erupt from the concrete to spear your enemies in mid-stride, or ripping the turrets off tanks, or throwing cars into buildings. It's fun for a while, but at some point you've done it a hundred times.
Show me some depth, or I don't care how perfumed your poop is. What makes a game like GTA work is that is that it's filled to the bleeding edge with easter eggs, minigames, multiple approaches to most every problem, and a rich Euphoria AI to poke at. It's a lot more that just a big world and a cool graphics/physics engine.

This is the same company that made Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, a masterpiece , a game that included unlocking Savage Banner (it was just little Brucey but with all the Hulks power) and the Nuclear Supersonic Homing Flying Headbutt, I will most likely buy this one.
Well GTA4 is awesome and the more open world games, the better. I've played the he'll out of Oblivion, Saints Row, Crackdown and now GTA4 and never regretted buying any of them ever. Now there's Prototype and another Hulk game and Mirrors Edge although I'm not sure Mirrors Edge is open ended but bring on the Parkour.
