Well, the "strategy" behind it is that you'll only have to worry about the four higher frets, as holding down the green button with any higher fret will not affect that fret, because green is lower and therefore will not register (unless you're playing a chord). This technique basically let's you play on hard and expert with only four frets. But again, it's hardly fun.

my son can play "Through the Fire and Flame" by Dragonforce on expert with the guitar behind his head. Its funny the talents kids have. but I gotta say I was pretty impressed when I saw him playing it. I suck at it

I have just completed it on easy -- and am scared of jumping to medium.

My fingers just don't wanna do what I tell them to!

that happens all the time. You start changing finger placement and going with muscle memory your banging on the wrong notes when you should be hitting the right ones till you realize your failing hte song and correct it.

Something always clicks and you feel like you can take on the world, until you get to that next set list that murders you.

Going from easy -> medium isn't that bad - you just have to strengthen your pinky up.

Going from medium->hard is a whole different story, though.

I just went back through on Medium to 5 star all the songs and the only one I can't is Raining Blood. I'm gonna kill my friend for putting that song in the game now. He worked at Neversoft when they were picking the set list and a few years ago when I was roommates with him we had a joke that Raining Blood was like the fastest song ever and so "metal". So the bastard decides to suggest it for GH3 and it made the set list.

In my "hard" career, I'm stuck on the Slash battle and will probably never beat it. I'm so pissed at stupid shit like that cause it makes the game not fun.

I feel your pain on the hard-mode Slash, wingfan. I tried, I think, at least 20 times and went through a lot of cursing before I beat him. It's pretty satisfying when you beat stuff on GH3. I finally beat Knights of Cydonia on hard a few months ago and felt like a champ. Hard Lou however continues to be an impossible feat. I've using both Malachimanson's downgrading and kingge's lower frets strategies since GH1 and it's the only way I advanced to hard.

I think I had more difficulty with Morello. Slash, it's all about saving your stuff till the right moment. People usually unleash their attacks right when they get them. You gotta save it and use it when a long complicated part comes up or to stop them from getting an attack.
