finally got to the comic shop to pick this up. i love that scud is finally back. it's gonna be sad to see it go again so soon, but at least it'll have an ending. one thing i missed from the old books was the suggested soundtrack and voices.
There will be spoilers. If you haven't read the issue, read it and then come back.
The first of the last 4 issues of Scud recently came out. I have to say I'd forgotten how much I loved the pure creativity of this book. I can remember the sting of hearing that the "last issue" wasn't coming out many years ago. Issue 20 ended on such a cliff hanger. What a bitch. How could Rob just drop the ball on the last issue of his entire project? At the time, Fireman press had not only Scud, but seemingly endless spin off books. Drywall and Oswald, La Costa Nostroid, Tales from the Vending Machine, and so on. And then it just stopped.
Well now he's back. And it's damn good to have him back. Thus far the first issue is a "fill in the blanks" sort of issue. It serves to remind you of a bit of what came before and what's taken place in Scud's absence. And yet again, it proves to still be excellent. Still creative as ever.
In his absence 10 years have past and Voo-Doo Ben Franklin has taken over after the Zombie Zoo War. Drywall has grown up and become an assassin. And Scud's mission to save Sussudio and bring an end to the Earth is in full swing
I can not wait for the conclusion of this series and the omnibus to follow.
