Silverage Spiderman
Hi everybody,I'm new on here, and I thought I'd post a picture I pencilled and inked over a week ago, featuring Spiderman drawn in a silver age style.Let me know what you think, okay?

Looks cool. nobody really draws old school anymore. Most people can't. Reminds me of a mix of Steve Ditko and John Romita Senior.
keep it up!!

Thanks,I'm glad you like it.

This definitely has an old school flare, but he has no waist, no hips, and he's missing most of his abdominable muscles.

His legs are swinging up,which prevents the hips from being seen. It's called foreshortening, and as for his abs,I did state that I drew this in a silver age style. Not everybody has to draw like Jim Lee.I do prefer the silver age style. It's simplistic and still gets the point across.

It has nothing to do with style or foreshortening, Spidey's missing his lower abdominals and most of his pelvic/hip area. It also looks like his lower legs are too short.

Jack Kirby did not draw things anatomically correct by any stretch of the imagination but yet he is still considered one of the all time greats and masters of comic book art. I think the whole community has shifted into drawing everything anatomically correct which is fine because that is part of the evolution of the Genre but every now and then it's good to just see something that looks cool without having to be absolutely dead on.
Not everyone will like your style but believe me those that do will find you if you keep posting.

Thanks a lot. Like I mentioned,I'm not big on the Jim Lee copycat style that seems to be very popular today.I'm 48 years old,and I grew up on guys like Ditko,Kirby,Romita Sr.,The Buscemas,Infantino,Adams, etc. To me,those guys all had distinct styles, where a lot of today's pros are merely stealing off of whoever is the big name at the moment.Just take a look at today's comic book art, then look ata silver age comic. You'll see what I'm talking about!

Whoops, there goes the point. You've missed it.

The perspective on the bricks look like they're all parallel, as opposed to converging at a vanishing point. Since this is an upshot, we should be seeing the building in three-point perspective. The bricks toward the bottom of the page should be more level, and the bricks at the top at more of an extreme angle.
