Its all in my head. sketchblog by ntholden
Hey,
thought I'd get in on this sketch blog goodness thats going on. I already got my blog and my deviantart stuff but I gonna post random sketches here too. Mainly WIP or stuff I do as warm ups.
Comment away, rip apart if you want. You can even tell me they are good. . . . well tell me they're average at least.

Some stuff inspired by Iron and the Maiden, The Halloween Jam on this board a random eyepatch lady and a quick sketch of what appears to be madona.
Now whats next???

Well lets see. we got a batman. a robin, a superman, silver surfer layout, an elephant head a skull, a guy with POOP! written on him and a guy I was gonna call ultra something or other but think he might sound better as horseshoe on chest guy.
Tell me what you think.

Anither one for this blog.
This piece started out as a sketch of Captain America, then turned into a Gladiator type guy. Weird how these things go.

No one has commented yet. Makes me feel lonely.

Hey Nth
Okay ... Firstly ... agian pelcome to PJ ... and yes you do suck ... LOL ... sorry I had to joke just because you put it out there. Nth ... your stuff is pretty solid ... I like your rendering style ,,, and your anatomy is fairly good ... way better then mine at least ... lol. What I am noticing is some ... and for lack of a better word ... stiffness between your rough works and your finished pieces. It is like you have lost some of the energy that was in the rough sketches when you took them to completion. I notice it more because I have the same problem. I was wondering if you have a light box or a light table. Basically you scribble like mad ... find your pose ... and you trace it on your good board. I am getting one for Xmas ...
. They can be pretty cheap.
Again ... all in all a great start to a blog ... can't wait to see more.
Cheers
Shawn
P.S. Since I was the first person to comment on your blog ... you owe me a cookie ... that or a quick visit and C&C of my blog ... just kidding .... I want the cookie...

Hey spidey976,
Thanks for the comments.
I do struggle to find a fluidity in my work. Its there in the sketches but as a firm things up I literally firm them up and my character can look a bit stiff. I'm looking at Byrne Hogarths books just now in an attempt to loosen up my art.
I think a lightbox is a must for me. I'll ask the wife for christmas.
Oh and gave you some rep point cause you were first post.

Here is what I'm calling the finished versionof the wolverine sketch. Would love to know how you think it looks. Stiff or otherwise.
It was getting late when I did this last night and for some reason really struggled when it came to drawing the claws on his left hand. So he retracted them(he he)

Later
p.s.
Don't make spidey976 feel lonely cause he's the only one posted here. join him. . . . you know you want to.

Nicely done Nth
Your Wolvy looks great .... and I have to say that I like the addition of spot blacks to this one. Though I think that the head may be a little big for the pic. I honestly think that this is the nicely rendered piece ... but I might take it a little easy on all of body hair next time. Keep up the good work m8.
Shawn
P.S. thanks for the rep points
