I was reading my copy of Wood's The Wizard King today. Just apeing his work, trying to absorb some of his style.

I picked up Hogarth's book on wrinkles and folds. Just some studies of his work:

Hogarth's stuff is excellent, but it's still stylized. I referenced this out of the Sears catalogue -- again, to study folds.

Studying folds got me thinking about Bryan Singer's last Superman flick. In Singer's first X-men movie, the characters joke about how ridiculous they would look in spandex. Yet in Superman Returns, Singer opts to put Superman in spandex, with greased hair and spit curl. It just seemed out of place for a modern film. I thought Supes needed updating. Perhaps he needs updating in the comics as well.

Just playing around with the Superman's look. A quick sketch with a different haircut and looser clothes, but still trying to keep the general feel of the character. Didn't come out the way I intended, but whatever. That's what practice is for.
