Anyone creeped out by the digital grave robbing of Orville Redenbacher?

When I saw the commercial I immediately said to the Wife,"they pulled an X3 with the face thing on ole Dead Orville. The mouth gave it away for me.

well it's definitely nothing new, they've already done it to john wayne, lucy, fred astaire, etc.. shit they even did it to jessica simpson and she's not even dead yet!

Not the same thing. Those were actual movie clips spliced together. This is a cgi face over and actors body. If they can do this what's next?

i was pretty sure they had cgi'd john wayne's face, i know they cgi'd jessica's (apparently she wasn't in the same shape as she was in dukes of hazzard, so they had to cgi either her or another actress's lips over her more flattering figure).. besides the jessica commercial it's been a year or two since i've seen it done, but i know i've seen other commercials of this ilk before, it's freaky if nothing else, they never seem to get the effect just right

Part of the problem is the camera setup. It's almost impossible to get the exact same angle and tracking of the original. In the John Wayne clips the camera was spinning around him slowly so when they dropped it into the new setting they forgot that, so it looked as if Wayne was floating. Remember what they did in Forrest Gump with the dead Presidents and other prominent figures?
They are also using that effect they used in X3 to make McKellen and Stewart look young. They used it in those Direct Tv ads. The Ferris Beuhler one and the more recent Back to the future ad. I had mentioned the bobble head effect of Jessica Simpson in her ad a while back. I had a feeling it was a cgi blend.
