    Darkhorse rocks 'em both.

Marvel and DC, there's just nothing new under the sun with these guys. We've seen it all from every angle and it's gotten a little redundant in both camps.

That's why I actively seek out alternatives from the Other Companies.

    Marvel

DC has way to many God like figures as their main characters to make interesting stories. Everything seemingly has to be on an epic scale.

The only down to earth chacters DC has are the Batman group and the green arrow. But DC ruins Batman by having him beat everything no matter how powerful the character is. It just becomes annoying after awhile.

Wouldn't it be nice if DC took a hint from Marvel and started killing off some of their characters--at least on a more regular basis before bringing them back?

Also, in terms of godliness: Have you looked at Juggernaut (unstoppable tank), Professor X (instant killer), Wolverine (essentially invincible), Hulk (infinitely strong), Thor (a frickin' god himself), Apocalypse (essentially an intelligent Doomsday with power self-enhancement), any number of mutants from X-Men, etc. The list goes on as long as you want to make it. I won't even bother mentioning Galactus, Pheonix, or Dr. Doom.

DC has its share of course, such as Superman, Darkseid, and perhaps Wonder Woman (but anymore, she has her limits too). However, generally speaking, if you don't want epic, you shouldn't look in the Justice League area. You should focus more into the Batman, Teen Titans, or Outsiders series, where most of the characters have very modest powers, if any. The plots are interesting, the characters are fun, and character development is always present. But, as far as I know, the only truly balanced characters in Marvel are Spiderman and Captain America (don't point and yell at me, I read DC for a reason: I don't know much about Marvel). If you want to use the god-brand for DC, that's fine. Just don't leave Marvel out of that circle, because from my viewpoint, they're even worse off. I mean no offense against Marvel or their fans, but personally, Marvel just can't hold my interest.

Another complaint against Marvel that I have, is that they are not exactly a very friendly company to just jump headlong into. If you have no clue about any of the Marvel Universe, then you won't know what they heck is going on. DC offers more flashbacks, and gives the reader a brief summary of events every once in awhile, so that the reader doesn't wind up lost. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places, but Marvel just doesn't seem very friendly towards the newcomer. I've tried before to get into Marvel--honestly I have--but the moment I open the page, I have no clue what to think. DC's stories seem to be much more forgiving and, while a bit choppier and a little less smooth, I almost never lose my way.

There is that, and I think DC's heroes are more standard. Capes and masks still exist in the DCU, but have all but been eliminated (at least in unison) in Marvel. DC doesn't limit itself to one type of look though; they also step outside the standard uniform and make it so that their heroes stand out less. I prefer being able to go back to classics though, back when a superhero was made up by the uniform too, not just the powers and the name.

Marvel: Good for some, not for others.

DC: Fun for all, and easier to get into.

Though it's all a matter of preference, which is what it boils down to, DC wins my vote for its ease with which to follow. One doesn't have to go hunting all over for the right books (as much) just to know what's happening in the plot.

DC Comics since aboutish the Mid 80s has been vastly superior to Marvel story wise. My only regret is I only realised that a few years ago.

Artwise, until the late 90s, Marvel was always 10 years ahead of DC Comics, and to be honest, Marvel probably still are 10 years ahead of DC artwise, the difference is, I find where Marvel's taking comic art to be ugly and DC being behind is right in that region that looks beautiful to me. Plus DC characters still have fights, Marvel characters seem to stand around talking alot now insted.

Right now for me DC for story, DC for action, DC for art.

well can you blame marvel writers trying to write every comic like they were Brian Michael Bendis? lol the guy sold an s load of comics and pretty much sold himself on his dialogue...everyone in marvel right now, it seems, is trying to do the same. however as far as action goes, i disagree....i think Marvel is starting to pace their comics like movies....which would be fine, if comics werent only 22 pages long! thats too short. Marvel works better in trade paperbacks. DC is the company that can sell single issues to me, at least right now. and with donners superman and Cooke and Sales Superman confidential, i find im actually reading superman again, even after i swore him off thanks to the vanishing All Star Superman

I voted Marvel because I'm a sucker for continuity...
...even though they seem to be messing up that part big time in the last two years. My most recent beef is with Brubaker's Deadly Genesis.
Third Summers Brother? Oh come on!

It's a difficult choice though. The dilemma is understandable.

Back when I was first getting into comics, DC just seemed really stale to me. And all of my favorite artists were working for Marvel. In the process I just grew more attached to Marvel's characters and could only really get into Batman from DC... with a few exceptions.

I was really into both Image and Valiant comics more so than DC as well.
