Sometimes it sucks that this is a business, but that is the reality.

Your approach to the design changes, and the obvious professionalism with which you attacked them is admirable, and will likely serve you well, with regards to landing future work.

It really comes down to the old adage, the customer is always right.

Thankfully you have the skill to make the changes.

In the end, even if its not your own vision of what is best, you made your client happy, came in on time, and got paid.

Even if its not your artistic vision of what is best, you obviously did the best you could within the creative confines you were given.

The end product shows the care and skill you bring to your work.

Very interesting read, thx for sharing.
I like the first drawing the best, but as far as the animated look version, I must agree with marvel as I like the final one the most

while the first sketch is what i would want for a comic book, i think the last design fits in with the movie the most, since most kids probably know the movie version the best.

That was Marvel Entertainment's thoughts as well, NickGuy. I personally think it made for a less exciting book, but it's hard to complain really. I got paid well, and got to draw Spider-Man. Hard to complain about that.

I appreciate your opinions on the matter, guys. It's always good to get other perspectives on things. I

Funny they didn't like your angular Spidey design... especially after seeing the "Sensational Spiderman" on TV.

Well, the SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN animated show is a different animal entirely from the movie franchise, which has it's own branding to take into consideration and protect, but I know what you're saying. I feel like the book would have been more kid-friendly with the more angular animated look, or even if it were done in a more traditional comic book style, but Marvel Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, and Sony had different ideas.
