    Worst Freelance/Commission Postings

I plumb the depths of the freelancing world daily looking for work. My main sources are craigslist and Guru.com. I'm shocked, each day, as to the depths of ignorance the general public has toward what artists do and how much they are worth.

So I'm now dedicating a thread to the horrors that I see daily. Feel free to share a laugh at what basically boils down to people trying to con high schoolers into giving them lots of work for almost no pay.

If you want to contribute, I only ask that you not post the company or personal information. Most are anonymous through the site, but just be careful. But in all fairness, money is money, so if anyone actually WANTS to submit to a job posted here, share the links in a PM. I'll be purposefully making fun of people, but doing it as anonymously as possible.

Let's kick it off with a gem I got today.

    * * *

I need for my pre-school website 100 coloring pages, black and white, 564px X 794px, gif format, no text on drawings.
This is for kids, so i don't need a lot of details.
This is the list i need :

    Amusement Parks
    Animals
    Baby
    Back To School
    Birds
    Birthday
    Bugs
    Butterfly & Moths
    Camping
    Circus
    Dental Health
    Doctor/Hospital
    Family
    Fire Safety
    Fish & Ocean Life
    Food
    Frogs & Toads
    Holidays
    Music Symbols
    Numbers
    Seasons
    Shapes
    Sports
    Western
    Animals
    Bugs & Butterflies
    Celebrations
    Clothes
    Flowers & Plants
    Food
    Holidays
    Miscellaneous
    Ocean
    People
    Seasons
    Weather

You will have 2 weeks to complete the project.
As it is some simple drawings, i am looking for a 50$ budget for the 100 drawings.
It could be for a long relationship.

    * * *

So, in two weeks, you have to produce 100 pictures for 50¢ a pop.

    Any takers?

For $50, she'd be better off going out and buying a bunch of coloring books and xeroxing them.

I told jeremy I'd draw 100 pages worth of adaptable of shapes.

    Triangle - camping
    Circle - ferris wheel
    Square - TV

I also like how the description has so many repeats. Apparently they need a few holidays, a lot of food, some animals.

    And then bugs AND butterflies.

Heh, I recieved that same offer in my email through one of the site Xadrian already mentioned. I love how much she wanted for what she was willing to pay.

Someone once asked me to make a 24"x 17" full color piece of a cabbage... for a beer... he wasn't drunk. He was a bit nuts. However the thing I remember the most about the "offer" was how pissed he was when I laughed at him... he took his cabbage very seriously. Oh well...

sounds like a vegetable loving freak of nature that i went to highschool with. he'd bring in carrots and talk sweetly to them during class, or try to make out with the bonzai tree in the art room.

A friend of mine is working on a graphic novel right now. She was originally offered something like $500 for a 180+ page book. Then she got an agent, and he got them to up the price to $9000, but she has to do the graphic design work.

Shoot, after you do 180 pages, the "graphic design" work is the cover text. That alone I'd charge more than what most people would pay for a full book.
