I think what you need to do... Is do studies were you spot solid black shadows based on a lightsource. Don't worry about gradations, just worry about black and white shapes.

Then once you are comfortable with that, start spotting black and white shapes while adding transition gradations between the two.

It's not that i'm not listening....There’s something in my brain that doesn’t allow me to push further with contrasts. I think its fear. I need to start taking classes or something...cause I can’t seem to do it on my own.

He has no shame, but he does have skill. Try working monochromatic this will show you how flat your value choices are, then when you correct make another layer set it to multiply and paint it whatever colors you want, or lay down washes if you are working traditional.

i did this one pretty quickly and i started with greys but i got antsy to use color...ugh.

I like the speedpaint piece but the soft brushes are a little hard on the eyes. Try using a harder brush this will make the overall piece more clean.
