Batman!!

I finished this in time (drawoff) to get some crits and maybe do some touchups before the deadline monday. Thanks for looking.
The contest called for pencils only but I'm really excited to ink this also.

First thought was, Batman is falling onto the street, but then i saw it was the other was around.
The hands of the viewer are to close to the eyes for me. If i would fall and reach out for help from above i stretch out my arms and try to get a grip. Also the fingers, spread out.
Here it seems the hands try to protect the face of something, or it is a more scared postion of the hands.

But the drawing is nice.

But maybe the person isn't falling and trying to protect him/herself from Batman... then it looks okay for me, except for the buildings, they then appear to be just one story high.

And i wonder, what is the shadow above Batmans head?

Very intresting. Batman looks dark and his bat symbol stands out, nice effect,. Nice concept idea. The veiw of a crimminal. Nice job.

Batman's hands don't look menacing enough to be a threat. He needs to have them reaching out to grab quickly as opposed to stretching out to hug gracefully. The way his hands are positioned, it looks as though he is trying to catch someone.

Hi legs are also a bit off. I think that both feet need to be angled more at the viewer to give the sense of Batman coming down on them –– Hard!

Overall, the concept is very nice and the use of the symbol to be a highlight is great.

It looked more like Batman was falling away from the hands than coming towards them when I first looked at this. Plus Batman looks small...like if Peter Parker was to put on the Batman costume and go out to fight crime. The body doesn't read Batman to me.

Thanks guys. I think I may redraw this because I really like the concept but there are too many flaws to just "fix".

Juan really nailed my personnal biggest problem with it. Batman does look small. I messed around in Photoshop with his size but it's more his perportions.

I'm going to change some things on the cape. Less star pattern. Change the postion of his right leg. Mess with the layout to better show the buildings and that Bats is jumping down. Change the position of his hands.

I like the hands. I'm going for a Dave Johnson kind of thing with that. Thanks again for all the comments.

ps. I seriously doubt I'll do all this before the deadline tomorrow so I probably still just enter this cause there is still a lot I like about it.
