    Dr. Who question

I have never seen Dr. Who but I had a superfan friend in junior high that would explain it to me and now that it's back on tv, I just started musing on the concept and came up with a tough question.

How can Dr. Who be the LAST remaining member of a race of IMMORTAL TIME-TRAVELLERS? I don't get it. If they ever explain that, I'd love to hear about it.

Well, that's a question I don't think was answered yet. It was called a Time War so the Dalek's may have been able to go back in time before any of the Time Lords were around and prevented their existence. Our Doctor could have been in transit at the time and somehow protected from the temporal catastrophy, thereby being the last one.

Just a theory, I don't even know if it's been explained.

Even more incredulously.. how could you have never seen Dr. Who?

With the relaunch of the new show, came some changes to the character since his last incarnation. These changes have not yet been explained completely, at least on American TV. Maybe it's better explained in the books, but I haven't read them yet.

The Doctor was pivotal in defeating the entire Dalek race (or so he thought), in a so-called 'Time War'. At the same time, apparently, his own planet of Gallifrey, from where the Time Lords come, was also wiped out.

    I haven't watched it because:

    A) When it was on PBS as a kid, my mom wouldn't let me watch tv in the first place and was also convinced it was a horror show
    B) It hasn't been on tv for, like, a decade
    C) I don't have cable
    D) I figure if I tried to get into a show that's been going for, like, 40 years, I would get totally confused by the continuity issues.

i think the new show is pretty easy to get into. i had never really been into dr. who when i was younger but my dad was always watching it. so when the new seires started up he started recording them. and i gave it a chance one night when i didn't have anything else to watch and ended up watching 6 episodes in a row.

rent the DVD's and check it out. it couldn't hurt
