cool, is he supposed to be asian though? If so can't really tell.
So... I had my own Samurai Saturday film festival this weekend!
Started off with-
ZATOICHI:THE FUGITIVE and
FIGHT, ZATOICHI, FIGHT.
Followed-up with an afternoon of
LONE WOLF AND CUB: SWORD OF VENGENCE
and into the late night with the classic of all....
SEVEN SAMURAI!
And in between I drew this pic of Zatoichi in my sketchbook!
Wheeee!

Sounds like a nice saturday CW. What lead do you use?
S'ok, it doesn't scream Shintaro Katsu, Takeshi Kitano at me though or look very asian. Just looks like some guy without pupils with a sword coming out of nowhere. It's good, it's just not Zatoichi, to me anyhow.
The neck is a bit too thick for the actor of the original series. I also think it would be more in line with the character's traits to have him looking down. I dunno why, but whenever I think Zatoichi my mental image is always his traditional face down as he's listening to his surroundings.
I think you nailed the general look of Zatoichi, but it could use some refinement.
Nose is also a bit large, and jaw too small.
You're right, my sketch looks more hard than the softer looking features of Katsu's Zatoichi-
This is just another sketch in an effort improve my ability to draw stuff that looks like stuff- I still have a way to go.
I just bought a few new soft lead pencils - I was grabbing whatever at the time - I think this is mostly an H pencil tho.Originally Posted by InkDrop
