Hey man welcome to the boards. One thing you gotta remember is that if people view your piece and do not comment it doesnt necessarily mean they dont like it. Theres many reasons why people dont comment. Some people lurk.. some people come on here for inspiration.. Some people have nothing better to do with their time... the list goes on and on. My good buddy Loston Wallace (aka bruce lee) told me that he has had 500 views and no replies before and he is damn good. The best thing to do is to be patient.. Make some friends on here as well. PM some guys you want to get to know.. they wont fight you off with a stick. Just remember it takes time on here.. PJ can be slow at times

About the piece: I really do love this so far. I love the way you are utilizing shadows. His fingertips on the hand covering the other hand seem to come too much at a point. He almost has women fingers :P. Big tough muscular and ruthless viking fingers would be more spread out.. Trust me im a fat guy and lookin at how my fingers lay on my hand.. theres no way they can come that close to a point. (unless of course the two middle fingers were raised above the outside two.. but that would be awkward to see and very uncomfortable I.M.O.)

p.s. Vikings are bad ass.. cant go wrong with em.. i have a lot of viking blood in me

Thanks for the good words Killer, I'm generally pretty patient and it usually irks me when someone bumps their own thread like that but I had posted it on 3 or 4 message boards and not a word on any of them. I like the way this came out and just wanted to hear some comments, good, bad or indifferent. I guess I was more interested to find out why no one had posted anything, like a critique, sort of "Why does this not illicit responses when my other sketches do?"

It's interesting for me to see how people react to my artwork, I like to be able to see people's reactions when I first show it to them. I guess the problem with this one is that it's just rather boring for the viewer. I think it's fairly good from a technical standpoint but for the average viewer, especially one who isn't an artist, there's nothing to really draw them in. The technical points are just good enough that they won't notice them at all, they only see a guy standing there with a viking helmet.

About the girly hands, that's my fault, I used my own hands as reference. I drew this in the breakroom so the hands are still sketchy.
