Cool stuff (as I've said). How much were the prisma markers?
Not bad , you really need to hit up some anatomy a little bit, for you i would recommend body building magazines, use the for refrence its amazing what poses you find that resemble the ones you draw and usually in the body mags the muscles are very defined so its a good referance, overall pretty good keep it up, Hope to see you around here often
Oh and Prisma are about 3.50 each, i saw a set of 120 was like 244 or something like that. I know there pretty expensive.
Stoked! You went and bought prizma markers. That's awesome! Usually when someone asks me about them it takes 'em years to get off their butts to get some.
They take a bit to get used to. Even longer to get confident with. But you can get some amazing results. I think on these drawings you just need to keep layering tones with the markers. You'll prolly end up ruining lots of drawings before it starts to make sense. That's what happened with me. But it's worth the effort.
The other thing is, when you're doing tones there is something you're looking for called a "core" shadow. It's the shadow that is closest to the highlights. It's called the core shadow because it's usually the core of the object. The center of a ball, or ridge of a hill, muscle or rounded object. The core shadow is usually one of your darkest values and it fades a bit lighter into the shadow - away from the highlite. And the highlight is usually your lightest value.
So in the example I'm using, it would be the bridge of caps nose. Or the ridge of caps cheek-bones and temples. It's usually as dark as the cast shadows - like under his neck and eyelets. The other thing is that you need to define your edges more. Like the edge of his face and mask and head. Don't be afraid to do crisp/sharp lines. Hope that helps.
Archerian has a great point on muscle mags. Get some and redraw them. Even go as far as to reproduce the color as well. Post them up here along with the reference and get feedback from all the great talent here.
Hope you have a great experience here with PJ. Make sure to comment on lots of other peoples work. Even if it's just "that's awesome!" or "great eyeballs!" That's the best way to make friends and get better feedback from other artists. Also check out my response to Dylan's first post about how to scan and post images. Good luck!
Thanks for critiques. Yeah, those prisma markers are something else and I'm definitely going to look into using muscle mags for reference. Awsome Harley Quinn Will!
also you may want to check out a Chris Hart book titled "Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy". Or his "Cutting Age Comic Anatomy" they're both great references.
