    Gozu?

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361668/
Yes, I'm going to keep posting annoying 'question' centered posts for awhile. I'm thinking of getting this movie and was wondering if anyone has seen it? It's either this or a frumpy pair of discount old navy jeans. Gozu would probably help to inspire drawing, incase you were wondering where I was going with this thread.

Hm, well, some people like Miike, and some don't. I saw Ichi the Killer, and while I didn't turn it off, I don't think I'll be watching any more of his movies either. Except maybe his portion of 3 Extremes, but only because I want to see Park Chan-wook's segment. That's my biased opinion anyway...

Gozu isn't nearly as violent as stuff like his Ichi the Killer or Audition or Dead or Alive stuff. Having said that, it is still pretty damn weird.

I haven't seen this one, but I just got a new one called One Missed Call that I need to watch.

Personally, though, if you need the jeans, you should get them.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it will pay for the search.

I haven't seen it. I've heard it was ok though. No masterpiece or anything. The only thing of Miike I've seen is his Three...Extremes skit, and part of Zebraman that I just couldn't get through. I quite liked his Three...Extremes skit, but Zebraman scared me away lol.

As for Three...Extremes, I dug Fruit Chan's "Dumplings" the most. Which also got turned into a full length feature which was just as good. Park Chan-Wook's was ok but personally I thought it was the weakest of the three. A lot of others would say it's the best on the disk. I think I need to rewatch it, I didn't quite get the end.

And if you want a modern Japanese movie suggestion, I'd say 9 Souls. It isn't ultra-violent though there is some, it's just a great movie with great music. If you can find it that is, which I don't know if you can even though there is an R1 release from Artsmagic. Masterpiece I say.

I liked Gozu. The absurdity of it was just astounding. But I loved Audition. Very creepy and well-paced. That chick was crazy!

I haven't seen Ichi the Killer, though I have heard some reviews-I'm not really looking for the ultra violence, just the weird, to put it bluntly. And I happen to live in an area where the social climate supports wearing rags, so its not as crucial to buy pants.

Well, Ichi is pretty wierd in addition to the ultra violence. Gozu, I've heard, is extremely wierd, especially one scene that I won't spoil for you, but I'm sure you'll know it if/when you see it.
