    The Writing Contest

    Welcome to "The Writing Contest". The deadline is July 2nd. A winner is picked by using the voting function of the topic that I set as the poll booth. We will be using this picture as our basis;

    Setting: Sci-fi, future or past

    Page limits: 5 pages, any script style.

    Rules: Each writer has to include this person and this vehicle in their story. This person can be the main character or a supporting character. There are no story limits other than the setting, rules and page limits. Deadline is July 2nd at high noon.

    Have fun!

    Uhhh, why the rules on setting? Especially as open-ended as they are... Perhaps any setting that can include this piece of equipment? It just seems a little silly to set a rule for where/when we may place this character and hardware. Would I be barred from my script taking place in the present? Or perhaps fantasy, in a different world altogether that has fairly high-technology?

    Testing the limits of just how many question marks I can put in one paragraph.

    Actually, I just copied and pasted directly from what amadarwin suggested. I really can't see what story could not fall under future, past or sci-fi. That would only leave a setting thats exactly like current day. I'll remove it if it is brothering you though.

    You guys look into things to much...

    yea i consider sci fi and fantasy intertwined, so knock yourself out Spectre! We can remove the setting if it sticks a burr under ya.

    Naw, I was just being a pain in the ass. Really though, with the rule you have there, it might as well say "Any setting."

    heh, that's my fault. In my haste to make some definable rules I had originally made a 'setting' category. Instead of omitting it altogether, my brain told me I HAD to put something there, hence 'sci-fi, past or future'. Present would work too, but what can I say? I rode the short bus to school sometimes.
