If you need to draw a horse

I just found a great site that has a pretty good tutorial for drawing horses...

Sweet! I have always had trouble with horses. Even when I would draw pictures for girls in elementary school, I could never bust out horses, unicorns, ponies, etc. It always nagged me.

Drawing horses is like drawing a big dog like a Great Dane. Only not.

The best way for me to draw horses is by looking at photos.

Barnse and Noble bookstores usually have bargain bins with some great buys of some excellent horse books. They also have some great gun books.

But the site is a great starting point.

Here's some images of my latest horse animations.

The colors are wacked but I was experimenting.

I learned to draw horses from Jose Delbo at the Kubert School. He was a real stickler for teaching people to draw them, since so many genre comics are chocked full of horses (If you can't draw a horse, you're never going to draw Conan..heh). Horses are very tough to draw, but the best thing to do is to go to corral someplace and take a sketchbook along with you. Photos are naturally useful too, but nothing beats doing real life studies of these animals. You'll learn the most from that.
