    Monster Club Cover (feat Gutz)

    Hey folks!
I did this cover together with our all friend Gutz!
It's the cover for the Monster Club Christmas Special, shipped in December 2004, published by AP Comics.
For my details go to www.apcomics.com
    Pencils by Gutz
    Colors by me
I know some stuff could be more defined, but i had to do it on one day

Crisis already posted it already but i'll still post it haha
    Pencils: Crisis
    Colors: Me

These colors were done even faster haha (that's why i ****ed up the nose so bad)

Looks chock full of monstery goodness.

One thing I will point out (and this is really more of a penciling issue, but one that could have been resolved in the colouring) is that the highlight along the middle of the sword is actually the peak from where the two sides of the blade slope down to the cutting edges; so when things are reflected in the blade they would not appear entirely flat as if looking in a mirror. I see the two halves seperated by the tones, but I think the image itself should be slightly more distorted.

wow .. you took it from simple pencils to a nice complex coloring scheme. Great job!
Never be afraid to erase, redraw, erase, and redraw until you get what you want.

hehe F!nch of course you're abolutley right, I just thought it would make things maybe harder to look at, plus it would have meant extra work hahaha

I know too much accuracy can sometimes destroy the illusion you're trying to create, so don't pay too much attention. I think the difference in the colour on each side of the blade is enough to telegraph that it's reflecting back at different angles. The problem is that the face was drawn as a continuous reflection, rather than split by that ridge. But like I said, it's a penciling issue really.

Really good. I heart the attention to detail as well as the style.

Seed Know's how much I really luv these colors and in such a short deadline!! Thanks Seed for coming thru for me in the clutch.

Finch: Thanks for the crit..and you couldn't be more totally right...didn't catch that...I should have but thanks for pointing that out. I'll make sure if I do a sword weilding person again I'll make sure to remember your crit. Appreciate it..I probable would've kept drawing it the same on other pictures if you didn't point it out. Thanks! And thank you again Seed. -Gutz

    Hey deph!
Well the thing with opticstudios is not as easy as it sounds...in the midtime it was almost dead, now et ninjai and me decided to revive it, but in a different way -not as an actual studio but as a website of some friends that like to show their art.

    Thanks for the comments!
    Bye
