I saw this book on the Fantagraphics site and it looked cool. Now that I've officially "heard good things" I'll definitely have to order it when I can scrounge up some cash. Thanks for the review.
I can see people being a bit hesitant to drop close to 20 dollars Canadian on this comic. . . You Can't Get There From Here sports a hefty price tag for something which can pretty much be digested in one sitting. The reason I think this title is easily worth the cover price is the amount of times I've come back to reread it since I bought it.
You Can't Get There is about a love triangle, involving Dr. Frankenstein, Frankenstein's monster and the Bride of Frankenstein. It's a fairly bizarre narrative, and Jason really flexes is abilities as a storyteller by illustrating this book in almost complete silence. The only dialogue you'll find in the entire comic is a conversation in a coffee shop between two mad scientists' hunchbacked assistants, chatting about relationships and loneliness while scenes of chaos and violence surround them.
I can't reccomend this comic enough. It's funny and touching and strange and tragic, and it's nice to look at to boot. Definitely one of my favourite reads of the past year.
