    blah.

The colors are bad and superman looks short. The colors are a bit flat. In my Opinion the capes look like light weight fabrics, and from how batmanis grabbing his im surprised the thing isnt all tangled and twisted. The faces are both the EXACT same, The chest needs wok on Jims part and Alex needs to work on getting more realistic colors, other then those "cool" dark colors im always seeing.

I can't believe none of you have noticed Superman's gargantuan right foot, which is longer than his upper thigh.

Other than that, everything that's been pointed out before holds true; those are generic poses, Ross' rendering shows how two-dimensional Jim Lee's figures really are, and if you did put all of Lee's characters in a room together wearing the same outfit, you wouldn't be able to tell any of them apart.

Best Batman/Superman pic ever? Not a chance.

"F" em!! This collab came out great. It's Jim Lee Folks. It's his style. It hasn't really changed over the last 10+ years because it's his style. Unless you want smooth and bland paintings like an airbrush would produce, That's how a Watercolour or Gouache painting will look.
It's not Jim Lee who needs to change, it's you guys who need to just move on. But Alex Ross's stuff looks much better when painting over someone else's stuff. Just look at the Crisis cover or the Jack Kirby one or even the John Paul Leon one he did that was used as a cover for Wizard.
Ever get the feeling Ross doesn't trust his skills in doing realistic people? I have a video of him doing a painting and he agonized over the photo's he had ,for a long time, in deciding what to use. As long as this thing is printed on archival watercolour paper and autographed by the two artists I may grab one.

Hmmm. You're not his personal secretary are you?

I like Jim Lee's art on the whole - his general ability is not in question. I think his overuse of poses such as these hints at either a basic 'laziness' or a faltering imagination.

He is a leading figure in the field and some of us probably expect more from him.

All artists should evolve, Lee appears to have reached a level where that evolution is constrained though.

I don't think that having this opinion means that I should 'move on'.

ps. Having not been around on these boards for a long time, I almost forgot just how much fun it was disagreeing with Justice41.

Well I ask you guys then, Lee's not going to change. So what are you guys going to do, whine a little more or just let it go? You gonna put Lee or Ross in a figure four leglock and force him to evolve artistically? No! Your not, but I guess whining is easier. Do what I do when an artist no longer appeals to me, just move on. My eye's have seen a lot and some artists styles' just don't hold my interest any more. That's just life. But change is good. Go towards the light.... The Light,....... the Light........

Can someone add a Crybaby emoticon...

r u guys on crack, his right foot isnt long its the back of his leg....i agree wit justice...the guys are the best in the biz....and about the poses thats not lazyiness ...this was done for a Wizard cover...and if the Wizard guys wanted u to draw a cover for em, and told u, we would like to see both of there symbols clearly and dont forget to leave room for the Wizard logo...i would like to see a better pose frm u guys with all that in mind...remember supes and bats can only do certain poses not like spidey

I agree with you to a certain point as it goes Justice, BUT, this is an art forum and we're only commenting on the styles of comic book artists.

Our conversations in here will help people develop their own styles and understand what they DO and DON'T like about various artworks.

I don't like 'ignoring' things that I find fault with. I like to identify the faults and try to understand how they could be rectified.

I think its a valuable exercise.
