    Sky Captain

(somewhat) new trailer and a clip

    This movie will pwn j00.

Seriously, still looking cool. The trailer is mostly the same as the recent theatrical, but I believe there'sa extra footage, espescially towards the end.

    **CLIP SPOILERS**

The brief clip they have in addition to the trailer depicts a squadron of planes, with the hero Joe and Angelina's pirate captain character, as well as a dozen or so "red shirt" types, all flying in pusher-prop planes, in the ocean. They end up getting smacked around by giant underwater robots, dodging torpedoes and collapsing shipwrecks in the trench. Kinda cool to see a dogfight taking place underwater... and the whole thing looks flawless, like a pulp comic come to life, a sort of illustrated reality. I'm going to have see this for the visuals alone.

    Jackie!!

Holy crap, it's a Jackie Chan movie that actually looks like a Jackie Chan movie!!

    http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=17957

Let's face it, Jackie's getting too old to run down buildings, leap onto moving hovercraft, fall through latticework ceilings and break glass with his face. And after the godawful FX-laden absolute NON-JACKIENESS of The Medallion and The Tuxedo (and I gotta say, Around the World in 80 Days is not inspiring me with confidence) I figured Jackie was giving it up and taking it easy, leaving the crazy stuff to newer, younger faces like Panom Yeerum.

But here he is again, in what appears to be Police Story III, an HK film which continues his earlier role that helped make him famous (which may explain why it seems so much more right than his weaker, watered-down American films), and he's sliding down flaming ropes, kicking ass and pushing a hand-cart full of bodies while the building explodes around his ears.

He still doesn't look to possess his old elastic energy, and the trailer seems to concentrate more on his dramatic performance than his stunts. Perhaps this his last hurrah, so to speak... he's over 50 now. But at least it looks like Jackie Chan, and the first good Jackie film in a long while.

Looks alright... definently more promising than The Medallion or The Tuxedo.

    Movie news

Trey Parker is the new Jim Henson?

Team America is the new, all-puppet feature film from the geniuses that brought you South Park.

Well, one of them anyhow... while Matt is involved, this appears to be Trey's show. Inspired by The Thunderbirds (I'm glad to hear that these guys had the same thought I jdid when I heard about the new Thunderbirds film), it sounds like one hell of a good time, too... read the article. It sounds like it should be every bit as funny as SP, with the guys ripping on everyone from Michael Moore to anti-terrorist action movies. I can't wait to sing along with the Team America theme song, "Team America, ****! Yeah!!"

Apparently you Comi-Con bastards will get to see the first glimpse. So make a note... you bastards.

Ennh, not hard to beat those two. Good lord, I'm so thankful I saw them on cable instead of actually paying cash money to see them in a theater.

Yeah, but his post didn't connect to an article which gives us the Team America theme song.

No-one has love for the Sky Captain?
