What program?

Hi,
I've got a comic going on, and I'm pretty new to drawing.
What I'm looking for is a program which is very fast.
I had Photoshop 7.0, but it just takes too long, not to mention that I have to Copy+Paste a lot.
What I'm using now is Arcsoft Photostudio, but it's not really what I'm looking for.
Anyway, what I want is:

fast
simple
easy to draw figures (like Paint)

Photoshop is the best program, I agree, and the result is very good, but it just takes too long.

any suggestions?

What are you trying to do with it? If you're trying to color, Photoshop is the fastest way to go. There's nothing to copy and paste, so that wouldn't be a problem. If you're wanting to draw or ink on the computer, Painter 8 would probably be your best solution...next to using actual paper of course.

Im running 3Ghz processor with 2 Gigabytes of fairly fast RAM. Photoshop7 is LIGHTNING fast!

But that probably doesnt help you. Have you tried Photoshop4? Thats what i used to use, its like 7 but much faster and simpler (although it somehow takes a hella long time to load and save giant files. 7 is faster in this regard).

Version 4 doesnt have the fancy brush engine, and its also missing other less important stuff. But still extremely powerful. You can find it on Ebay for something like 25 bucks (last i checked).

Theres other programs, but none have the ability to layer, layer, layer like mighty Photoshop!

You might try Painter if youve got a Tablet, but its much more hard to learn than Photoshop (at least in my experience).

It's worth mentioning that Photoshop is an industry-standard program anyhow, so it's worth learning how to use it well simply as a potential job skill.

if you're looking to just do some drawing and whatnot, go get Open Canvas. It's a nice mix of PS and Painter, plus in one version of the proggie, you can draw interactively online with people in real time. Now that's awesome.
