In fact, he wants to co-direct it with Miller so badly, he's quit the Director's Guild of America over it.

Days before beginning production on the Dimension drama "Sin City," Rodriguez resigned his DGA membership so that he could co-direct with Frank Miller, a film neophyte who created, wrote and illustrated the three-book graphic novel series on which the movie is based.
DGA rules dictate that there be only one director assigned to direct a motion picture at any given time, although the guild occasionally grants a waiver to that policy. On Thursday, a DGA spokesman said, "The guild regrets Mr. Rodriguez's resignation, however, we stand firmly behind the principle of one director-one film."
For one thing, Rodriguez plans to have Quentin Tarantino direct part of the film, along with Miller and him. Tarantino may be billed as a "special guest director" or whatever title Rodriguez wants to bestow, now that he's no longer under strict DGA guidelines about who gets behind-the-camera credit.
This also means that Rodriguez may not be available to direct the upcoming A Princess of Mars.

IGN FilmForce's exclusive scoop from Wednesday was confirmed today by Variety: director Robert Rodriguez might not helm A Princess of Mars due to his recent resignation from the Directors Guild of America.
"As a DGA signatory, (Paramount Pictures) is required to employ only guild directors," reports Variety. "Insiders close to Rodriguez insist that – at least for now – he is unwilling to rejoin the Directors Guild just to direct Princess of Mars." As a result, "Rodriguez's resignation from the DGA has jeopardized Paramount's development of its tentpole pic."
Paramount exec Rob Friedman advised Variety that the studio is "in discussions with Mr. Rodriguez and are trying to come up with a solution."
According to IGN FilmForce's tipster, Rodriguez essentially told Paramount where to go. It should be noted that we contacted Mr. Rodriguez's reps, Paramount, the DGA, and Mars producers Alphaville for comment. Only Rodriguez's publicist addressed the matter, saying, "As of today, we are not dropping out. We are still very much making that movie."
Mars was scripted by Mark Protosevich and boasts a $100+ million budget. No casting has taken place.
Interesting indeed... I wonder though, if this is also just a thing about Rodriguez not wanting the Guild to tell him what to do with his career... he quit before, to co-direct Four Rooms, and then rejoined later to direct The Faculty.

It's not your fault, it's mine, because I forgot you are stupid.
yeah, i don't know who posted it.
i think it may have been MasterWerk actually. either that or he posted a lot of background from AICN in the thread.
i don't know, doesn't matter. but this is somewhat old news.
Well I know about the first part but not that he might be booted from Princess of Mars.
Sounds good..as long as it's done right!!!!
And it sounds from R.R.'s comments that he doesn't want to 'adapt ' Sin City...He likes it the way ot is...
I hope that he films it in B&W (a must...or that's it it would be ruined.)
I also hope that he also uses all the same exact camera angles and lighting.
The only thing he has to do is figure out how to transition time and motion within and between the panels.
Do this and I will LOVE IT!
(but Mickey Rourke as MARV?...I dunno...)
Supposedly, they're using a process of high-contrast black and white that mimics Millers art.
It's not your fault, it's mine, because I forgot you are stupid.
The only person who could do any justice to "Sin City" imho would be David Fincher.

OOOhhh, I see where I messed up.
He quit the DGA a couple of weeks ago (03-19)... See, I found all this out while doing a little hunting to see if I could find anymore Princess of Mars news, and it's Rodriguez's likelyhood of being dropped from that production which is new news... his quitting is old news. I guess.
New news to me...
Okay, so I half-messed-up. Smack my ass and call me Susan.

Does it say if Miller wrote the script? If it does, I missed it.
And this absolutely must be in B&W. There's no two ways about that.
