isn't the fight with revolver ocelot really easy now that you can go into first person?Originally posted by MasterWerk
it's great to have the new features added into the first one. it's at least a nice treat before Snake Eater is released.
i know that MGS: The Twin Snakes is a remake, but damn i'm impressed at how well the game holds up.
i loved metal gear solid when i first played it, and after devouring Sons of Liberty (which, mind you, is one of the greatest action games EVER. PERIOD.) it's great to have the new features added into the first one. it's at least a nice treat before Snake Eater is released.
so... go get it if you have a GameCube, and if you are playing it, what do you think

"bangin' on twin snakes..."
Eeeeerrrmmmm...
I heard it was pretty neat, but the cutscenes have an overabundance of slo-mo effects, and the addition of MGS2 gameplay isn't all that good with the MGS1 game design. For instance, the ability to shoot in first-person largely ruins the Revolver Ocelot fight.
I still own MGS for the PSX, and it's a classic... if I owned a Cube I might pick this up, but from what I've heard it's not as good as it could be.
Now, MGS3 (Snake Eater) is still looking sweet. I read an article on IGN recently describing how the camo system works, and it looks like it's going to be an interesting and innovative departure from the earlier gameplay.
Looks like they're adapting splinter cell's stealth meter. Neato.
**edit** well, I had links to MGS3 pics from another forum put I can't link them in this thread. Looks cool, tho - I'm sure some quick searching will turn them up.

i disagree about the first-person stuff. so far, the ocelot fight is the only time it really makes the game rediculously easy. the rest of the time i've mostly been using it to scout my routes. but i'm sure glad to have it, especially when i'm trying to make a quick head shot.
my only complaint is that the GC controller's shoulder buttons aren't that good for this kind of action but i'm happy to have my wavebird in effect.

I myself think the cut scenes are better than they used to be. I dunno the slow-mo work is working for me. I always found the ocelot battle easy anyhow so it doesn't matter to me. But yeah it's fun definently worth a rent/buy.
I'll definitely be getting it soon. I loved it back when it was on playstation.
Yep, monogamy's where it's at in the 90's.
I got it, but I'm actually waiting till I get my new TV before I go any further. I want to enjoy it in all it's widescreen progressive scan glory.
Now, please keep in Mind that Metal Gear Solid is my favorite game ever made.
My biggest problem with Twin SNakes is that its the same game. I know, they said it was going to be a remake, and it partly is. The new things from MGS2 are not needed-you don't have to do any of that stuff in this one to win. The new cinematics are great, but some of the dialogue suffers because it was all re recorded. It's not as good for some people. I don't know if I'd call it a remake as much as it's an enhanced Port. I wish they had gone like the Resident Evil remake and added new things like Capcom did. But still, I really dug it myself, all that aside.
