It's an SGI workstation and a Discreet Flame visual effects thinger. They're very high-end.

I don't know what the SGI workstation goes for, but I did stumble across another Flame HD V.8 (used) for $178,000.00 on another site.

It's funny that the seller thinks a two-line description is enough for a $185k product.

Yep, monogamy's where it's at in the 90's.

It's to the point and names off specs. Anyone that's willing to pay that much for a computer couldn't care less for anything other than what he wrote.

Anyone who's willing to pay that much would probably like to know all of the specs and at least the condition of the product before they bought it.

heh...what's really funny is a lot of places who used SGI's are upgrading to Dell's and Athlon 64 PC's

Yeah SGI's are basically obsolete now. Most places just go with a highend workstation at a considerably cheaper price than an SGI machine.

I remember when SGI was huge, after the T2 film came out since their machines did the processing of all the cgi for the movie. I was working at capstone and we got one for the creation of our nextgen video games.

I cant believe they are still going for that obscene amount of money.

ILM still uses modified o2's which are SGI computers. I think there about to move to Macs tho.
