Must... clean... pants...
Seriously, looks bad-ass.
--EDIT--
As long as we're on the subject, Hildago looks like it might be cool as well.

Some don't like that we get Asian movies imported over so slowly, I think it's pretty cool because we get( usually) the creme of the crop.
It seems to be that way because every US theatrical release of asian cinema always has "The hit that swept across Asia" tattooed on the trailer...

When I first saw the Hidalgo trailer, I thought that it was stupid...
But, I'm starting to think that it might be pretty cool. Plus, seeing Omar Sharif is always cool. (Probably one of the greatest, and least known actors in film history.)
I will say that I think that's a terrible voice-over for Zatoichi, but I chalk that up to MiramAXE and their utter stupidity concerning the localization of foriegn films. They don't exactly have a slick track record... I'd be happiest if they showed this film with subtitles, but I can wait until the DVD for that if necessary, I suppose.
The film itself, now... that looks like it's going to kick serious ass.
Yea, I'm waiting on a dvd. I loved the part where the old man just throw a sword in the guy's for though.

I'm waiting for a DVD if I can't see it with subtitles. I absolutely despise watching live action with a dub. Cartoons I have no problem with, since their mouths arent realistic or anything. But I just can't watch a person say one thing and hear another.
I want to see Hidalgo in theatre, but I think I'll wait to rent Zatoichi. Having seen several of the old serials, I don't think I'll enjoy this new take, based on the trailer.
The old Zatoichi films were a lot of fun and drama rolled into one. For one thing (and no, I didn't watch this latest trailer, I am going by the one I saw on the official movie site last year), the main character was played with a lot of humility- as the way he hid his swordsmanship from arounsing suspicion- and I didn't see any of that laying around. Plus, they had some really.. really terriffic fight scenes in the old black & whites. I just can't imagine it any other way.
Edit-- Just watched the Miramax trailer. A bit of fun in the last 2 seconds of it, but man.. I dunno. I'll hold off.. awards and all.

Hey, I've actually seen Zatoichi last year (that's one of the good things of living abroad... but we get all the american movies at least 2-3 months after they aired in their homeland :/... Hence my hate for all your spoiler threads :P)...
It was good. Weird pace and not the best Kitano, but you still find his trademark dry humor, and a few poetic scenes. The best part of the movie though is the sound, you'll understand what I mean when you see it... That and some cool butchery!
