So I was using these old, crappy brushes my grandfather gave me, and decided to get some newer ones of the same brand. This was to test them out, and I think they work perfectly. I did these on little 4" x 6" index cards, and only with #6 and #8 brushes. Enjoy!
I used my face as reference on these, but the bottom-left one (The one with the long-haired guy) is the only true self portrait.

They're good (esp. the top two) but you need to work on getting your lines smooth.
Yeah, you're right. These were done really quickly, like about 2 minutes each. I lightly pencilled in the basic form, then filled everything in with the brush. I probably should've taken more time, but I was interested in what they could do. I also found a way in Photoshop to make it pure black and white, so those crappy gray areas appear all black. Thanks for the crits!
NO PROB! Also, using better brushes helps. And don't let your brushes dry all wonky, or they'll be worth shit.
Better brushes....![]()
I thought these ones were good. I spent, like, $10 for each of 'em. I hadn't broken them in yet, I think that's why they looked weird. I should post some of the other things I did with them. Or maybe it's the scan...Either way, I agree, the pics do look like crappy brushes were used.
