Apparently there is a big screen version of Magnum P.I. in the works, and the producers, writers and the studio strongly feel that the audience would never accept anyone but Selleck as Magnum. If Selleck does it, they will start the film with Magnum on a case in Asia. If he won't, they plan to start at the beginning telling the story of how Magnum came to work for Robin Masters.
What do you think, could anyone else play Magnum P.I. and be accepted in the role?

Nawp, too old and he looks it, but if Clooney does it, that's another flick I'll not see. They should get that guy from Joe Millionaire 1.
So instead of an old guy who can act and is already identified with the part, you want a young guy who can't act his way out of a bad reality tv show?
I think enough time has passed since that show ended for them to reboot it with a new actor. I don't see a real issue in not having Selleck as Magnum. He is too old now.

C'mon didnt anybody see Mr. Baseball...or Three Men and a Baby? Mr. Sellecks got all the acting chops one can have! But seriously Sellecks IS Magnum P.I. acting abilitiy aside. Just like Hasslehoff is the Knight Rider and those guys from Airwolf are those guys from Airwolf. Man Airwolf Kicked Ass.
Oh I think could just accept somone else in Knight Rider, anybody else. He can sing the theme tune for the German release.
