    PJ Mix CD Exchange

So I was reading DJ Kenobi's blog and it seems he's making some mix cd's for some people, and it suddenly gave me the bright idea that we should have a mix cd exchange here at PJ.

The way I think it should work (unless someone thinks of something better) is people chime in that would like to participate, we set a deadline for participants to join, then they are randomly joined with other participants to trade mix cd's with.

The cd's should be a current mix of the music you're listening to. Whether the other person likes that kind of music or not. You're not catering to them, you're just putting stuff you dig right now on a disk and sharing it with a community member.

This is a good oppurtunity to get some bands out there you may like some new ears and maybe bond a bit with a board member.

I think we could critique eachother's mix's too, and show what we sent the person.

Anybody else think this is a good idea? Got a better idea on how it should work? Chime in.

I would listen to certain people's mixes... but I doubt anyone is interested in hearing the eclectic, random selection of popular and obscure that I enjoy... it's rare to find a person who wants to listen to BOTH Ray Stevens and Outkast, The Neptunes and Bill Hicks, Warrant and Weird Al.

Well, my name was mentioned. So yeah, I'm in.

This will bring my current load of mix cds in work to about 13. I really better get working on these. But it's like pulling teeth for me; they really need to make 150 minute cds so that I don't have to spend so much time agonizing over track choices.

Sorry, guys, I don't think this is a good idea. Heaven knows there's enough trouble going on with file sharing, I really don't want any similar sort of thing going on here. It's one thing if you just casually trade cds with your friends, but I'm really not excited about the can of worms that would be opened by using the forum as a music sharing apparatus.

Sorry to be the party pooper.
