It's a little embarrasing, but the only movie on that list that I saw was "From Justin and Kelly." I didn't pay for it, nor did I make the descision to watch it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I really want to see Gigli, just to see WHY it's the worst movie ever made.

    Oh man!

I can't agree with this guy enough.

I hated all of those movies. Damn not one of those was a "ah come on it wasn't that bad" movie.

i've gotta say- the only time i don't mind seeing a bad movie is when i'm going to write a review for it (i'm a writer for omaha's alternative weekly). indirectly, i get paid to see the movies. unfortunately, none of the movies on the list were reviewed this year (though scary movie 3 should've been on there) and i wasted tons of money on bad stuff.

but this was a fantastic year for movies as a whole and i'm fairly happy with my list of viewings.

but gothika did suck lots of man meat.

Just saw LXG, and let me first say that I did not read the comic. I found it to be entertaining. I did have a problem with totally ignoring Vampire conventions (Mina standing outside in the sun really bothered me). But it was what it tried to be. An entertaining action film with a unique cast of characters. Again, IMO not worthy of being on a worst of list.

"Thats not what i was getting at.
What i did mean was that critics today are quicker to give a decent movie a crappy review simply because it wasnt the best thing they have seen all year.

if a movie is shit, its shit, but alot of reviewers these days are more interested in writing a funny sarcastic review then saying .. yeah i didnt hate this.

id love nothing more then to go see a fantastic movie every time i put my ass in a theatre seat, but a little common sense tells me thats never going to happen"

Exactly. There are so many films that are better than the reviews they've gotten from critics. It's like there's no middle ground. Either the movie is the best thing since sliced bread, or it's crap. Now don't get me wrong, there are plenty of movies in recent years that were more than deserving of their bad reviews, but I think there's a clear divide between critics who will slam a movie that isn't perfect and the moviegoers who like or even love those films.
I'm not as good as you. . . .I'm BETTER!!

I never pay attention to what the critics say. If anything, I wait until friends who have similar tastes in movies see a flick, then see what they say about it. But generally, I just see what I want to see, and screw what the critics say. After all, it's my money. If I want to plonk it down on a movie, that is my choice.

Hell, I may even rent the Cat in the Hat when it comes out on DVD.

I have only seen two on the list, them being Underworld and League...
I liked Underworld. It was just a fun movie. It was far from a life altering movie, but then again, I don't expect too many divine interventions from movies featuring leading ladies in tight leather.

League was not really a movie for anyone who knows the literary characters or the comic. As a seperate movie, it is just an action packed special effects feast. I expected too much from this (like I did with Sleepy Hollow).

I don't expect every movie to be a top ten movie and I try to go into a theatre with realisitc expectations. As for bad movies anyhow, they are just fun to watch and poke fun of with friends. Bad movies equally have their place in our lives so that we have something to compare the great ones to.

    Cheers.
