    Avengers for Mature Readers?

How come no one here is talking about this?

I understand the problem, but once again I have to say that we so easily dismiss comics as being "for kids," yet a comic filled with violence doesn't seem to bother anyone. But, slip some brief nekkidness and an inference to sex in it, and all of a sudden you have to slap a warning on the cover. The problem I have with it is that if they aren't going to change the series itself to a mature title, they shouldn't do it with just one issue. That's just stupid.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it will pay for the search.

Pop, I think it's the stupidest idea EVER.

Maybe one of these days people will buy a CLUE, and realise that spandex clad adventures were MADE FOR KIDS. It was sort of a great bonus that they were made well enough, that hip college kids could get into them.

But this is WHY the entire ****ing industry is in the shitter.

They abandoned the audience, and now we get the scraps of remaining adults who still read the books.

I'd like to kick the publishers in the nuts, and get them to realise that if they want to do this kind of slag, they need to make imprints like Vertigo, where they can do all the adult stories they want.

This industry is going to continue to lick ass though, until Quesada and his drug buddies are fired, and somebody replaces them who can MAKE SUPERHEROES COOL FOR ALL AGES.

It's like they don't even want to try and compete against all the kid fads. They'd rather indulge their twisted sexual fantasies, on characters they dreamed of ****ing, when they were teens. Now they're adults, and they still dream of ****ing these 'toons.

    It's sad.

Joe Quesada needs to be drug out into the street and summarily executed.

Man, seriously...who the hell wants to read this dreck?

Those 3 pages posted are so ****ing lame. If I want that crap, I can turn on the soap opera network.

Bleh. I'm not sure why Marvel is going through these lengths to keep such a stupid scene in the book.

Because the House of Ideas has no ideas.

They operate out of fear. Fear of working in a medium that might be seen as juvenile. Fear of working for a company that will rape and plunder their ideas dry, and never share with the creators.

They will offer nothing new, and they will kill old ideas.

It's all they have to offer now.

I think they should rename the book Xtreme Avengers and give all the superheroes snowboards. That would be xtreme to the xtreme and with some fellas casually eating mcdonald's crap in the background while acting hip and cool that would be xtreme squared.

    XTREME

I'm with DeForge - it'd be stupid if they changed the rating to keep a good scene in the book. Changing it to keep a really stupid scene in the book is just ridiculous.
Apparently ninja revisionist history spread the lie that pirate conquistadors are no match for ninjas.

I totally agree. Like when Marvel used Spiderman in a story about drug addiction, and they pulled the Comics Code label off the book for an issue.

    That made sense.

Putting a new rating on the book, so we can see our heroes getting blowjobs is lame, and seriously shows a lack of creativity on behalf of those at the House.

Shane, you've started down the road to communicating solely through Fanta Shokata movies.

I thought that having "The Ultimates" was Marvel's way of making mature-readers Avengers book..? And if you wanted super-heroes having sex, just go and order up some back-issues of Penthouse Comix.

You all sound like a bunch of hypocrites. It's guys like you why have been making Mr Fantastic jokes for years, and let's not even talk about Man of Steel: Women of Kleenex, Which is pretty graphic in its explinations of Superman's love life and ability to have children with human women. Far as I can tell, it's a one-time deal, and it speaks of their responsibility to make sure the comic is labeled correctly. And no more of this bullshit about Superhero comics were made for kids, cause there was plenty of stuff in the early costumed comics that wasn't necessarily kid-friendly.
I'm not as good as you. . . .I'm BETTER!!
