Eh, every day has really bad shit that goes down and really good stuff that pops up. Drink alcohol. That should cause or solve some problems.

Sweet criminy cryin' out loud, what in the f*ck is going on with us?
Everyone I know is broke and unemployed or nearly broke and worried about their jobs (including myself), but the government tells us that the recession is over and everything is really looking up.
Troops are getting killed every day in Iraq, but we're not really at war over there anymore.
People are being slaughtered in Africa, but we're not going to help them out, even though we proclaim that our military objectives in the world is to stamp out terrorism and injustice where ever it may be. Regardless of our reasons, the rest of the world just sees us as imperialist bullies intent on expanding out influence and crushing opposition.
And now this jackass fires off a clip into the New York City Council chamber, apparently kills one of the people working there, gets away, and gives government extremists one more reason to crack down on civil liberties. Nice job, asshat.
I'm so depressed.![]()

Alcohol really does help.
Two people were shot, and Councilman James Davis was killed.

Take yer medicine, ya lush, ya.
"Ugh - look at me, having sex with a pig. I've become my father."
Apparently the other person shot was the guy who shot Davis... so in fact the gunman did not escape.
Still, it seems the world is steadily getting more and more screwed up every day. For instance, the numerous priests of the Boston diocese who were abusing children over the past 60 years are apparently going to get away with it... or at least Massachussets doesn't plan to indict them.

Yeesh...
bad stuff happens all the time.
We just think it's getting worse because were living what is going on now or were paying more attention than usual to it.

About your recession... I've come to the conclusion that it depends on where you live. I don't know anyone that's unemployeed around here, and as broke as I think I am, I own a lot of stuff and eat three squares a day. Maybe your part of the country is on the down side of the line graph right now, but I'm sure it's a far cry from the entire country.
And 4500 Marines are on the way to Liberia right now. 40-someodd were airlifted in the other day to protect our embassy, which, if anyone saw the news two days ago, was under attack. Assuming you're talking about Liberia and not the rest of the messed up continent.

Sheeeeeeesh!! Brain, don't be so optimistic. Some people like to wallow in misery. There called Liberals. Oh and the war is still on just the heavy bombing is over, but like I said don't give them any good news.
I've always said that there are others that have it worse (unless you're already dead.)
Another thing, even during the Great Depression, there were people who didn't believe a recession was in place.![]()
