    2 pages creator-owned project

Here are the first 2 pages of my creator-owned project I'm putting together called 'Solar Boarders'. Pages can be seen as an introduction of the characters, nothing much happens but for a view of the world and its inhabitants. The preview will probably contain 3 to 4 more pages, after which I'll start pitchin it to publishers. Let me know what ya think sofar!

dude -Rhemrev- , this is really good... the cityscape is phenominal, your clothing is folded very well, and your characters movements seem natural.... my only crit is the faces, it seems you mastered the rest, but thier faces dont do it for me....

I agree, on the profiles the eyes are too far forward on the nose bone. Other than that, the perspectives are awesome. On the street scene all the people look like they are standing on the same plain, very hard to do. And one more thing, the panel where the rope from the flag pole is breaking completly across is kind of distracting.

That's a guy on the frisbee? I thought is was a girl... It must be the faces....they're all kind of feminine, even the gentleman with the goatee.

I like the concept, what little concept I can glean without the text. It has the promise of High Adventure. It looks like a CrossGen book.

thnx fr the crits people, really appreciate it!

caanan: backgrounds have always kinda been my thing, especially architecture......but it's also very time consuming, so I'm really trying to find that balance between making bg's look good, but not overdo it so it takes up way to much time.....a mistake I've made to many times, check this page out that was part of my submission package one year ago to see what I mean......

Cabral soth: feels good to hear a compliment on the folding of the clothes, cuz it has been a weakspot in my art for years.....but now that I"m using photoref. more an more, things are picking up........and are getting noticed, an encouraging thought indeed! As far as the faces go, I didn't reference any of them, so that's probably it. Will work on it, thnx fr your feedback though!

Fleshpool: had a hardtime figuring out the market scene indeed, especially since there really isn't much of a rule (or at least not one that I'm aware of) that helps u out in these kinda shots, really drew in the people based on my 'gut feeling', it's good to hear my gut was right.... As far as the profiles go, yeah, I've had some more comments on that aspect of my faces in the past, but for some reason I just can't get it right just yet......thus another p oint for me to work on, thnx fr pointing it out!

GT40: crossgen uh? I'm indeed shooting for a 'fun comic', that can be read by kiddies, is fun to read and even better to look at. Comics like Tellos and Battlechasers are a big inspiration for this project, aswell as Disney films and anime movies.

About the girly faces: not sure what it is, if I draw a head without reference, it just comes out looking that way.....i give it eyelashes and pouty lips for a girl, and a somewhat angular jaw and some more wrinkles in the face for a guy......and there ya have it, the secret to my art....LOL Seriously, I'm gonna see if I can fix this problem in the latter pages, cuz if people start mistaking my heroes for heroines, there must be SOMETHING i can do to avoid this! : )

Aight, should get back to my drawingboard, thnx again fr the good and useful feedback, keep an eye out for more pages of this project in the next couple of weeks!

wow!! about your laste year submission!!!

The detail!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! That must have taken an eternity. Yet, it looks good! But I see what your saying. What you got now has a smoothness to it---detailed but bot SUPER-PHOTO-REALISTIC!!! Nice. keep it comin.

I think the first page of the story is great! I couldn't draw that many people in one scene with such detail. It was very clear and easy to understand. However, the faces on the characters looked a little awkward. But other than that, it looked superb. Also, what type of art board or paper did you use to draw on?
