First new sketch in a long time

Hey all, i figured i'd but this up seeing as how i haven't posted any art in a long time. She's just a character for a big story i thought up. Her name is Katja and she's supposed to be a rambunxious (think i spelled that right) type who enjoys fun. She's not insane, but when she starts fighting someone she's usually laughing after she kicks them around a good bit. C&C is MUCH appreciated.

    Rambunctious.

And the picture ... needs some tightening up.

1 - Although her right leg is pretty good, the left is very stiff and not as fluid
2 - Her hips should be a bit wider for a female, I think
3 - That left arm of hers needs some re-working - it's too small and short in length
4 - her right arm ... is she muscular or not? If she isn't, the bicep may be slightly too large
5 - on that note, the way her right arm is bent looks like she's twisting her arm to hold the staff - very uncomfortable
6 - head needs to be a bit larger and centred on her shoulders

Also, from the pic itself, I get no indication of the emotion you said she portrays : rambunctious, enjoying fun - she seems to just be standing there doing nothing. Try to incorporate emotion in your work.

And also, invest in some unlined paper.

    That is all.

thanks PimpChimp. I really do need to buy a sketch book.
she's not really supposed to be muscular, i sort of noticed after i did it that her arms weren't really equal to eachother and that they had some problems. Thanks again.

    Any other takers? Please?

I agree with every point PimpChimp made and would add that it wouldn't be a bad thing to actually pick up a magazine or something and actually look at a picture of what a female looks like. I think it would be a great help.

The lined paper is a clear indication that you are very young. Keep practicing.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it will pay for the search.

    astrocity - thanks

Popninja - it would help to look for reference and whatnot, i was trying to do this picture without reference however, just to see how it would turn out. Yes, i am young, i'll be 15 in July.

    Anyone else?
