so it's pretty good then, eh? hehe. What's it have on it besides the 9 shorts to make it worth 15 bucks? Any special features?
The DVD came out today... $15 at Best Buy and quite the steal at that price. The animation ranges from the unique (Kid's Story, which for those curious does indeed seem to be about the Kid who appears briefly in Reloaded) to the bloody edge (Final Flight of the Osiris, the last hurrah from the ill-fated Square Pictures studio in Hawaii) and every single one of the 9 animated shorts is at the top of the league. Take it from me, I should know.
If you're any kind of fan of animation, even if you're not a big fan of the Matrix, you should pick this one up for certain.

You may want to wait for the special limited edition, featuring the original un-cut tentacle hentai scenes.Originally posted by Methane

I hear it's a full 4 hours long!
Some making-of featurettes and interviews (Toddy McFarlane is in there for some reason I haven't fully fathomed) and multiple language options... that's about it.Originally posted by Methane

There's another set available for $26.99 that comes with a soundtrack, but the DVD is apparently the same. The music on some of the films is pretty good, though.
probably because of the matrix action figuresOriginally posted by Inkthinker

I've watched about half of them so far. Excellent stuff. For some reason the Osiris short's animation didn't disturb me as much as it did in Final Fantasy, which was a pleasant surprise.
Apparently ninja revisionist history spread the lie that pirate conquistadors are no match for ninjas.
I've only seen the ones released on the net. I might get it since i have money now.

I kinda prefer having it on DVD, special features and all...
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the visionary behind World Record was not, in fact, Peter Chung, but a new director at Madhouse named Takeshi Koike. His style is definitely Chung-influenced, but taken to new levels and in new directions. I'm seriously stoked by this guy's use of perspective and shadow, his animation style is very unique and way cool to watch. He's my new hero...
