    Screentones question

Is there a method for generating tones on a computer that is printable? Or is print quality toning only possible using traditional (read: 'costly and time consuming') techniques?

It's really easy if you have Photoshop. You just make whatever tone you want as grayscale then convert the mode to Bitmap. Select the option for halftone and it'll let you choose the shape of the dots, the line frequency and the angle of the screen. Then all you need is an output device with a decent resolution to output it. I've found laser printers to be much better for this than inkjets.
