Cartoon Animation...What to use?

I'm intrested into making a cartoon animatiob, but the only program that I can use like that is Adobe Image Ready. I'm wondering what programs are out there that are made to help artists make Cartoons.

Whooo... ummm... well actually the best thing for a beginner to start with might be Easytoon... it makes some great little animated gifs. Not sure where the download is these days, though... someone around here should know.

For making professional-quality television or feature animation, my studio wreaks havoc with CORE Retas!, a Japanese program which sees heavy use in Asia, but I'm not sure how widespread it is here in the States. And it's pretty expensive (couple grand).

Its pencil test software, Quickchecker, is pretty good stuff for just learning the specifics of actually drawing animation, but it's a Mac-only program.

Ya, I have easy toon, its cool, but it always looks sloopy and I want to do something TV quality, like the simpsons. I know it will take work but thats what I want to do. I'll check out the other programs there. Maybe I'll get the one for Mac, if I can find an old mac.

Time to scour ebay. I could use easytoon, I ought to find it somewhere.
