Yeah, Atlantis fell short of my expectations too. But I did like "Emperor's New Groove" though.

Don't feel bad. I'm one of the few people on the earth that didn't like The Lion King (with the exception of Scar's song and the hula) since it went downhill after the first half. I mean it's just Bambi with lions for shit's sake!

I did like the muses' songs in Hercules but thought the movie was lacking. Beauty and the Beast was a great movie as far as the animation but I was still anoyed that they messed with the story so much (like the ending of the little mermaid).

What disturbed me more about the little mermaid was the fact that Ariel's Prince/husband eats fish. What if one day he accidentally eats her buddy, Flounder? Will they get divorced? Damn, I think too much...

I totally loved Aladdin. That was the first real slapstick stand-up crazy Disney movie with witty humour I had seen. Then some years later Hercules came and I really liked that one as well. The emperor's new groove is something I've missed but I think it's int the same 'category' as the two others.
My absolute favs are Fantasia and Hunchback of Notre Dame. Damn, those musical scores are great! The greatest I've ever heard I think. Beauty and the Beast isn't half bad either.

I loathe the Lion King. It really sucks baboon butt!

I too wish they'd kept the true horrific ending of Beauty and the Beast. Disney's never made much of a serious attempt at sticking to the original sories. Tat's the only thing I can 'blame' them for.
Now all that's left is to try and find myself a copy of the French silent movie of La Belle et Le Bète. It's awesome!!! They don't make movies like they used to. haha

Destroyed? Did it really do that bad in theatres? I was a little late on the whole thing.

What was it that was soo bad?

Fox Feature was banking on it pretty hard, and when it bombed they just couldn't recover... investors pulled out, layoffs began, then they just folded and all those animators were tossed onto the job market. Then Disney decided to ditch anyone who wasn't computer trained or in a key position, adding a few thousand more jobless, and it all went swirly after that.

And yeah, it was pretty iffy in my opinion... while it had some funny stuff (a smart prison guard, didn't expect that!) it also had some stuff that was just poorly written (the aliens and everything about them was poorly explained and difficult to understand).

Unfortunately, considering the massive resources necessary to create an animated feature film, they really cannot afford to do "okay" in the box office... if an animated feature fails to succeed, someone's head rolls. Very cutthroat, this industry.

I loooooooooooved Hunchback, though I'm still a little wierded out by the -ahem- slight sexual references Judge Frollo makes. (I don't think I need to get into this, )

My all time fav is still a cross between Sleeping Beauty & Beauty and the Beast, though....maybe because I'm such a nut for fairytales, ehhhh o___O!! The Emperor's New Groove was ok, though I'm still wondering what it would've been like if they had kept going with the original idea, which was supposed to have been much more serious.

Tarzan's awesome as far as character animation goes...you can tell all those "school trips" to Italy paid off
