Incorrect. The conclusion is not based on "fact" and should never have been mentioned. It is not up to a reporter to decide what Cheney is or is not "known for."

The fact that this is not an uncommon practice among US presidents should not make it OK or tolerable to put an order in place that has more potential to be abused than to be put to positive use.

Your classification of this order as something that has the "potential" to be abused is irrelevant. This is a common practice, and it falls within the powers of the President to do so. Nothing illegal is being done.

And as far as raising the issue of "some illicit conspiracy", I would just have to ask why it is that when people question the motives or value of certain actions by the government they're always some wierd conspiracy theorist?

There's nothing wrong with questioning the actions of the government. However, ignorantly assigning evil intentions to the Bush administration for doing something every administration in recent memory has done does indeed smack of conspiracy theory.

While I agree that this article is not pro-Bush, I have to wonder how many people here felt that articles attacking Clinton when he was president were a positive thing. And please define for me your view of what it is to be anti-American? I haven't read anything here that has given me that impression. There have been no posts saying "down with the American infidels" or anything like that. I just see people stating opinions and asking questions that are not unreasonable.

Then you haven't been paying attention. There have been quite the venemous threads posted here, many of which have been deleted because of their pure, obvious divisive intentions. Think about the reasons for posting this thread here and you'll understand.

Forget that this whole thread is about the Presidential order to keep things secret.....which may or may not mean that this administration has a commitment to open government.

Forget that this forum, though it has contained some political discussion in the past, is devoted to comics and comic art. If you must have your conspiracty theory fix, you go do a Google search and read it for yourself. Regarding the war in general here at PJ - honest discussions will be allowed, but articles posted as obvious flame bait will be deleted or closed. Such as this one.
