    Metabarons: Alpha/Omega

My good good friend just picked me up a copy of this book featuring the art of Jodorowsky, Gimenez, Moebius and (swoon) Charest. I've never read anything about the metabarons before, but I think this is a pretty awesome story. I can't wait until the finished book by charest comes out, (whenever the hell it's supposed to come out.) If what i've seen here is any indication of the level of quality this book will have, I don't think there should be a single one of us who doesn't purchase it.

Man, the (stories of the) original Metabaron books (Jodorowsky and Jimenez) are pretty crappy.
I purchased the first three books, and left it at that.

IF I'd buy alpha/omega, it would be solely for Charest his art.

Ra Havok doesn't love it, but there are reasons for me to doubt his taste being.... how do they say.... good?

Mike : go to www.metabarons.com , i think the asking price is around 10 dollars. And, though i honestly respect Havok's taste, and haven't read much of the series myself, from what I've gathered of the story, it seemed rather interesting. (the whole metabarons line, not just the alpha omega which i have and have read.) Just my 2 cents. The graphic novels also cost around 10 - 12 dollars.

Reasons for me not liking it:

first and foremost: the two EXTREMELY DUMB AND ANNOYING robots that 'tell' the Metabaron-stories in the present. Well, it's actually only one that tells the stories, the other just keeps on nagging on and on and on about how he blew some fuses and wants to hear the rest of the story. GAH!
secondly: The epic scale of .. practically everything . That might be just my preference for a more intimate and understated approach playing up... But hell, who likes sentences as "my body is filled with Oko-bombs. If I leave you this whole planet will blow up." As well as the "universe bombardement". This one's rather hard to explain. It feels like Jodorowsky is pushing his 'ideas' down your throat.
And his fascination for sex gets pretty boring too, after a while.
The character development lacks too. I didn't 'feel' for any of the characters, at any time.

I could go on for a little while longer.

Maybe my standards are too high.. could very well be that some think this is the shiznit. And I fully respect that. It's just not my cup of tea.

I'm eager to know how you will appreciate these graphic novels, Devilman.
