    2 quick Questions ?

    Hello All

I have 2 questions I wanted to bounce off of you. When drawing do you get ideas and poses from your mind or references? Also do you find if you wanted to draw and schedule drawing time is it as productive as when you just start doodling, like when your away from your homes or wherever it is that you normally draw? The reason I ask is because I seem to draw more at Work then I could ever possibly do at home where I'm actually set up for drawing.

    Thanks

When drawing I rarely get ideas of new poses or compositions as when I'm just thinking of something else or just tossing ideas around in my noggin without any pencil or paper in sight.
And I find it very hard to sit down and do something productive unless it comes naturally when i already have an idea i want down on paper. But that's just a matter of practice and I'm a lazy b!tch so that'll take forever to learn.

I never use refernces-though I should, at least for human anatomy. In terms of when and where I draw, that's basically whenever my hands aren't busy doing something else. It is a bit more nerving for me to sit down with a concept in mind from start to finish. I do my best drawing spontaneouly when I'm not concentrating on how I want it to be.

Well, I hardly use any eferences... I mean, when I draw (at least most of the time) I picture everything inside my mind and then I try to put it on the paper... Sometimes it works, but another times I get a totally differente result... Anyways I like to set free my imagination, and when I feel in the mood to draw I just take the pencils, the papers and start working...

    Hmmm.......
    1. For myself, it depends on the project, but I swing both ways. All my sketches are done freehand, which is where I draw a lot of ideas from. Most of my paintings are also done freehand with the exception of some that needed photo reference, such as live models and such.

    2. I draw whenever I can, but I try to keep my studio time to at least 8 hrs a day, though this doesn't mean limiting myself to, let's say, 9am-6pm. Normally my schedule runs into the wee hours of the morning since it takes me awhile to get into the drawing "groove." Having a home studio can be a big distraction -sometimes- because you know you have a million other things to do, whereas if you have an "outside" job, you can focus without being hindered by these distractions.
