What the hell is that thing that I see in two cuts though, the board that apparently is jetting two feet ABOVE the water without a wave?

I believe that's known as a "peak performer". It's a sort of dual surfboard, designed for especially high and/or steep waves. Basically, there's another surfboard that's submerged and it takes over once the plane of the wave drops to a certain incline.

So it's not motorized? Wow... I thought it was some sort of propulsion unit down there, and it was just going fast enough to plane out...
