What is your favourite comic book genre?

We were discussing diversity in comics over in the business in comics area and it made me wonder... do people even like genres other than superheroes? Or is there still hope to turn this whole thing around?

If you even view this, please vote. I'd like as many opinions as possible. Thanks. (note this does NOT mean you have to comment on it or anything, but just trying to keep the statistics as relevant as possible.)

well it just so happens that my favorite comic uses alot of those...and that's why i think i like it so much.

    there's plenty of action.
    there's mysteries...'cuz sometimes you don't know what's gonna happen.
    ooooh...googles of adventure.
one of the characters wears an eyepatch..so he's kinda pirate.
there's definately war in the series.
one of the characters was wearing a cowboy hat, that's westerny.
DEFINITLY historical (depending on what you believe...heh).
    Sci-fi to the fullest!
i've seen some fantasy in those pages.
    oooooh....horror! of course! there's zombies!
    supernatural....duh.
    avant-garde. well...lookit who makes it...that'll answer it
    comedy like no other.
cartoon...hrrrmmm.... one time there was a cartoon of me on the tv in the background.
spy? hrrmm. i think there had been some accusations.
sports? pfft...this is a comic book. no way!
romance...word! he hit's it more than the MLB! (hey...there's your sports!)
    drama. sometimes. y'know...roommate stuff.
kung-fu, there's been some kicks and punches thrown.
    superhero....DUH!

    wondering what it is?!

why Battle Pope of course! sillys!

I was SO about to make this same thread! :)

I'm not really sure where to carry on the conversation, here or in the Bidness forum!

I will say, that it was very hard for me to vote, because I DO like things about each genre. I went with Action, because it's so broad and would cover most of my favorite comics.

So, MC, which did you ultimately vote for? Just curious.

for some reason it wouldnt let me vote, but i would go with drama if i had to pick one. unfortunately there arent many good drama comics, but when there is, i love them. i love all types of comics with the exception of kung fu/samarai/ninja stuff. and ive never read a sports comic, i didnt know they existed, but considering i hate all sports, i'd wager i wouldnt be into a sports comic.

I tried to be honest and ticked off a mental list of some of my fav comics that are coming out these days and came up with, among others:
    Ultimates
    X-Statix
    Savage Dragon
    100 Bullets
    Amazing Spider-Man
    Bone

Well, that was enough for me. 5 of those 6 that came to me right away were superheroes so that's what I checked off. Still, if "crime" was there I would have been tempted to vote for it on the basis of 100 Bullets and Sin City. What would you classify Preacher as though? Drama, since it encompasses horror, western, adventure and so on?

Personally, I think I would like adventure but there really aren't enough titles out there to justify such a decision for me.
