Just start inking your stuff. You will learn clean up skills really quick, it forces you too.Off-Topic for a second. But I think the loss of energy is a reason I have trouble moving beyond a sketch. Each time I try to refine/render one of my sketches I always end up saddened that it has lost the energy it had as a sketch. (That and I am terrible at rendering)
And then study pro inkers.
I know people say losing energy comes from reworking a drawing constantly, but really it doesn't.
Energy comes from a solid foundation of design and layout. How you render is determined by those principles.
Working from the gut, is a just an excuse from an artist who hasn't figured out everything yet.
Your attitude will come from your imagination. That's where you pour your emotion into.
I know that sounds harsh, but really it's true. Once you understand how to trick the viewers eye through design you will never lose energy because its built into the foundation.
That's why the layout stage is so much more important then anything else.
