First trip to comic shop in about 10 years... what to buy?

As a side note, it's sad to see how meager and pathetic these little shops have become. The tiny wall of comics... the small row of bins. I was alone in the store almost the whole time. Not the comic book "theme parks" they had when I was a kid.

I go to one in LA (Manhattan Beach)....it seems to buck the current trend. It's usually packed, alot of industry people go there, and they host quite a bit of events. It's called the comic bug. It may be the area....but I know there's another shop about 5 miles away and it's just like you described.

Can anyone tell me what this is; Peter Parker: Spider-man#156.1

Is this a one off? I read it's a special issue or something, but I know the actual series "Peter Parker: Spider-man" hasn't existed in years. The numbering is confusing me as well.

I like the art, I might get it if it's just a one shot.

Weird, sounds like it's supposed to be a retro story set in the past (?) and 156 came out in the late 80s, but the preview seems to mention recent continuity: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...eview&id=13110

It's the 50th anniversary of Spider-man this year and they are bringing all four of his old long running titles back, I assume for short term.

I just got Batman : Court of Owls Volume 1, ( Issues 1-7). And I really enjoyed it and Greg Capullos' art is awesome.
