This is probably the most informative thread I've seen in months!
Thanks MJames, this is something I struggle with so this is great. In fact, I'm printing this and keeping it by the drawing table.
Thanks Mjames, I've been drawing that part wrong all this time, learning is cool!

I hear it's ok to buy anatomy books and study out of them on occasion.
Thanks for the great tips, everyone.
Carl, I really like how you showed the twisting of the torso more.
Hades, love that new pose. Kind of disagree with ya about the torso thing, though. Sure, mine is probably under-rated, but I'd like to shoot for the skinny-Spidey if I could. Appreciate the advice though.
Whune, I LOVE that! It's pretty much spot on for what I was trying to achieve with this. I wanted a funkier foreshortened pose.
MJames, image saved! I love collecting references, and those are always a tough spot to get right. Thanks so much, man.
This is an interesting question, but perhaps it'd be better to field it in pummel... I'll ask it there.
Agreed!
Remember how you mentioned ConceptArt? Well, let's compare the advice given![]()

LOL! Maybe if you had posted something colored you would have gotten more attention over there.
You seem to be in pretty good shape. Why not set up a camera, strip down to your shorts, and get in this pose for reference? I'm not saying to copy photos. But rather use the photo to get your proportions correct. I would imagine that you could sit down and do this pose.
Yeah, I usually do that... but my back is sore today, and I'm trying to use/abuse this place to tips
Ok, forget it... the clothes are com in' off!!!

Ok, here's where it's at right now.
Like I said, I wanted to keep the basic pose, but clean of some of the anatomical mistakes. I think I've done that... but I'm sure there's still more (edit: after posting... I can see the twist int he chest still needs work). Not only that, but I pushed the foreshortening further, and flipped the image... so we can see any wonkyness.
Thoughts?

I don't know...
I just don't see the point in having his right foot be such a HUGE focal point.
I can't add much here(don't have the time to do my own overlay), but of all the pointers you've gotten here, Hades' is the one that seems more in line with the type of advice I would give. I'm not a fan of the huge-headed, little-body "Mark Bagley" style Spider-Man.
Good luck, though. At the end of the day, as long as you've had fun doing it, that's all that should matter.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it will pay for the search.
I realize that this thread is the last place to do this discussion, but that is one of the reasons why i left CA.
CA now and CA two/three years ago, are totally different places...the final nail in it's coffin was the "clash of the titans" - when some people started asking too much questions and suggested to make changes to the site and the policies of it's founders.
Eventually those people (some of the best artists in the industry) left and CA started to die.
Open for commissions and work....PM me.
