Vote on the merits of the artwork.
I know we have gone rounds on this before, and I do see what you folks are talking about. I, personally, disagree. I didn't join an art forum, I joined a comic forum (At least in my mind). I feel that drawing is a skill, but storytelling is the talent. We work on our drawing skills here, absolutely. That said, being able to make that art say something is important to me. Had Dan done a pinup, I would have gone for him, as it looks like a misfired sequential to me, I went with the complete story; Reggie.

I am torn over this. Dan3000 chose to submit sequentials, which implies there's a story to be told. As we can see, however, there really isn't much story there. Reggie did submit a superior story, no question. The fact remains, however, this is visual storytelling. If the visuals aren't adding to the story, they're detracting from it. Dan3000's visuals do nothing to detract from what little story is there, and they're kinda nice to boot. If I were to vote for Reggie based solely on the story, then by that same logic I would have to vote Reggie down for someone else who submitted 20 pages of incredible story, with terrible art (not saying your art is terrible here, Reggie, but in this case I see quantity first). My vote goes to Dan3000.

I see your point ...I really do. And seeing that I do sequentials almost everyday. I know that storytelling is important, and an artform in itself.
What I'm disagreeing with is that if someone is doing panels, they shouldn't be expected to be a writer too. Dan3000's story was only a page long and pretty simple with no real ending (or beginning), but why does that matter? It's the art we're trying to improve here. We did a sequentials challenge almost a year ago for stuff like that.
I really liked Reggie's story...it was cool, whimsical..all that stuff. But the artwork in Dan's was just , in my opinion, better this time around.

I see your point about not being required to be a writer, that's a valid point. I hadn't considered that. I'll need to think that one over. I think I still disagree, but I'd rather not take away from Dan and Reggie's fight. Let's continue this later!

I remember a PRM that Marcelino and myself had (Captain America was the subject), that offered up a similar debate. I did sequentials and Marcelino did a fantastic Pin-up. I had lots of positive remarks made towards my storytelling, but someone (I forget who) said "Nice storytelling, but not one single panel is drawn as well as Marcelino's pic" or words to that effect. And its a comment that I absolutely agree with, both then and now.

I voted Reggie due to the varied angles, attempts at perspective, and more pronounced breasts...
