wth does knowing geometry have to do with basic perspective?

We got sidetracked with geometry. I know that 95% of the time, no CONSCIOUS knowledge of geometry is required. We apply some general rules and hope for the best. Perspective ORIGINATED with a study of geometry, but we now can just use some rules of thumb to get by.
No, you don't have to have a knowledge of geometry, but it sometimes comes in handy to know what to do when you have congruent triangles in a construction and what you can do with those. In comics, we just eye-ball it and if it looks right, everybody is OK.
